In Colin Kaepernick's first two seasons in the NFL as the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, he got them deep into playoff runs; the first one as the runners up in Super Bowl XLVII to the Baltimore Ravens and the second one, losing in the NFC Championship Game to the Seattle Seahawks.

In his third season, Kaepernick still put up a winning record, going 9-7, but the 49ers missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2011 season and the 27-year-old went through some struggles at the end of the season, losing some tough games that knocked them out of playoff contention.'

He did put up 3,369 yards with 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 2014, plus 639 rushing yards and a touchdown, but he also had eight fumbles in the season and lost four out of their last five games of the season, dropping four straight before the season finale; thus why the 49ers are watching the postseason from home and not getting ready to play a game like they have over the last three years.

So Kaepernick, who will be entering his fourth year starting in the league in 2015, has hired him some help in former NFL MVP and Super Bowl MVP in Kurt Warner, who will try to refine and rebuild some of Kaepernick's skills to make him a better player. 49ers quarterbacks coach Dennis Gile will also take part in Warner's teachings.

Kaepernick is expected to start training and preparing for the 2015 next week in Phoenix with Warner at the EXOS Center, as they will go over film, drills, board work and mental aspects of the game.

Warner, who spent 15 years in the league, won Super Bowl XXXIV with the St. Louis Rams and won the Super Bowl MVP in that game and nearly won Super Bowl XLIII with the Arizona Cardinals. Warner is a three-time NFL MVP in the league, so it only benefits Kaepernick to hire Warner, who at one time, served as the mentor for Eli Manning during his rookie season for the New York Giants in 2004; Manning has since went on to win two Super Bowls and two Super Bowl MVP Awards.
